CBN takes financial literacy campaign to schools
The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday took its financial literacy campaign to schools in Abuja.
The campaign is part of events to
celebrate the 2015 Global Money Week, which is an initiative of Child
and Youth Finance International and dedicated to the promotion of
economic citizenship among children and youths.
The campaign, according to Deputy
Governor, Corporate Services Department, CBN, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, is
aimed at educating the young ones on how to inculcate the culture of
savings and investment.
Adelabu, while lecturing the pupils of
Government Secondary School, Wuse on the theme: ‘Growing Your Money’,
urged them to cultivate the habit of savings so that their deposits
could yield interests.
The deputy governor took the pupils
through the processes of account opening in banks as well as the
benefits of operating bank accounts.
