ON MY JOURNEY TO BECOMING! (A must read for all Entrepreneurs) - Mercy Bello Abu

I have been asked severally, Why are you so passionate? Why are you so driven? What is the motivation?

As I will always say, if your Why is compelling enough you can endure almost anything and achieve whatever you set your mind to do.

It's the battlefield of the mind... Mindset!

I was privileged to be introduced to business at a very young age. Being part of a family that was known predominantly as a business family, it's a no-brainer that business is part of my core.

Growing up for us was fun, we always had money. Whenever you needed money, you were told to go sell in the shop and bring in money. I remember vividly how my younger sister and I would sell below cost prize because we wanted money to take to school for snacks.

We were imbibed with the ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT of grit, determination, resistance and tenacity of purpose.

I saw my mum work so hard to make sure we never knew what poverty was. She was a resourceful woman with a dogged spirit of achieving whatever she set her mind to achieve.

Whenever my friends visited, they were schooled on the art of hard work and not to be wasteful.

She put that spirit in us but one vice that she talked about till her death was for me to spread less money on clothes. Gosh! I use to invest a ton on shopping and clothes... you can't blame me, I love to look good.

But I am gradually seeing it her way now. I am not that crazy anymore about clothes or shopping these days! Don't get me wrong, I still definitely love to dress well but it's not putting any holes in my pocket anymore.

I am driven because I had a mother who was driven. In the business district where our family business was located, my mum was a role model and a figure of inspiration for so many aspiring business owners.

Husbands use to tell their wives to go learn from my mum. She was indeed a phenomenal Woman.

One thing that stood her out was her act of giving. She was selfless, (I guess I took that from her). She was always ready to help out, especially women and orphans. She impacted so many lives that when she died at barely 60 years old, the whole of Auchi Edo State stood still to honour her memory.

I have always known that this path I am in was something already predestined for me.

Growing up, I was most times the go-to person, I was very stubborn and very determined. I always wanted to take care of everyone, make sure they didn't make mistakes and try to help them lead great lives.
In fact I was the "Mother Hen" of my siblings and friends. I felt it was my duty to protect them.

I am passionate because I do not want to leave this earth without having impacted my world positively.

I am passionate about "dying empty". It's my most compelling WHY!

Being passionate and too driven has its negative sides. You find that you don't get along with a lot of people, either because they feel intimidated by you or they just feel "her own is too much".

But in all, most of them eventually come to understand you and they become your greatest cheerleaders.

On the Journey to becoming, you must separate yourself from the crowd, you must know and have your WHY, you must have your unique selling preposition.
Your WHY must be so compelling that you are ready to endure anything to achieve that desired life.

It requires tenacity of purpose, of dying to self, of being deliberate and intentional about your choices.

My greatest passion is to serve Entrepreneurs and small business owners in knowing their WHY in life and business for visibility and sustainability thus creating a lasting legacy.

Are you as passionate and determined as I am, but you do not know how to channel these innate potentials for maximum use for impact?

This article was written for you to encourage you to push more , aspire more, there will definitely be light at the end of the tunnel. What does not kill you, only makes you stronger for the next Venture.

For me, its always been about impacting and influencing lives through knowing their why in life and business, thus building the home to build  the nation nation through entrepreneurship.

In conclusion, if your WHY is big enough or so compelling that you do not see challenges you see Opportunities... Then you are on the Journey of Becoming!

Be Contagiously passionate about your WHY.

On your journey to becoming, it's about grit, determination, resilience, intentionality and great focus.

Let's meet at the very top!

Be great
Be Intentional
Be inspirational
Be inspired
Be phenomenal

God bless our hustle.

Thanks
