WELCOME TO THE NEW WORLD - Ronald Kenneth
LET'S WELCOME YOU IN ADVANCE TO THE NEW WORLD
The COVID 19 era is not going to leave the world the same way it met it.
One of the characteristics of the Post-Covid era would be the "SKILL-BASED Economy". A lot has been said about this recently (even before the outbreak of covid) but when this pandemic subsidies, the whole world will be talking skills.
In this period of the lockdown, it's expected that you acquire new skills. Now this might sound cliché to you but by now you should have realized that when the world talks about something for so long, soon enough, it becomes something you should really start worrying about.
We're aggressively walking into a skill based economy. It's gonna be about what you can do, not what you know or the degree you have.
If you're failing to prepare now by acquiring skills, I can assure you that you're preparing to fail.
WHY NOW?
It's better you amass skills this period for one or all of the following reasons.
1. THE POST-COVID ERA WOULD BE A BUSY ONE:
During this period, the world would be on the look for those who have acquired the soft but yet relevant skills. There would be little or no time to gain these skills and fit into the present realities. So, it'd be best to acquire these skills now. Think of it like preparing for a battle way ahead of the battle.
2. ACQUIRING YOUR CHOICE SKILL WOULD BE DAMN EXPENSIVE AFTER THIS PERIOD:
Courses that would naturally go for $1,000 have now been subsidized to $500 and for some $200. What does this tell you?
Knowledge providers are seeing to it that there are no excuses. You wouldn't say you didn't get the skill because it was expensive. Your excuse might just be procrastination (and that's gonna be shameful when you appear before someone in the future and give the flimsy procrastination excuse).
In clear terms, the most appropriate statement to buttress this point would be: "BUY YOUR FUTURE NOW THAT IT IS CHEAP"
WHAT SKILLS SHOULD I BE AMASSING?
Frankly speaking, you don't need to be the jack of all trade. You just need to be strategic in knowledge acquisition and deployment.
Take note of the fact that the skills you're acquiring would not be redundant. You'll gain them through lectures, podcasts, live sessions etc but you must put all that knowledge to work and make the swift transition from Knowledge gained to skill acquired.
Skills like Web development, copyrighting, digital marketing, graphics design, motion graphics, video editing, online session setup/management, web analytics, programming, writing, tutoring, virtual assistance, branding etc would take the centre stage in the nearest future.
Another important sector that would flourish beyond bounds is AGRICULTURE.
Position yourself aright for #PostCovid
